There are several BAOT new graduate networking events happening across the country organised by fellow new graduates, with the support of BAOT regional members and the College of Occupational Therapists
If an event isn't close enough to you-why not take up the initiative and add valuable CPD experience to your professional portfolio by setting up a BAOT networking group where you live.
To set up networking events in your area, contact Beriah.Nelson@cot.co.uk, Senior Membership Development Officer, for advice, support and contacts.
The BAOT New Graduate Guide supports new graduate members make the transition from student to professional life
The transition from student to autonomous professional can be both daunting and exciting. As a new graduate entering the profession there are many decisions to make. To help support BAOT members as they enter the profession, BAOT has produced the New Graduate Guide.
This guide covers:
With the growing interest and opportunities for newly qualified occupational therapists to begin their careers overseas, the world of OT is expanding for those graduating from BAOT/COT accredited courses which are recognised internationally
New graduates continue to seek opportunities that take them around the world to experience the culture, lifestyles and healthcare systems of many countries. All UK OT programmes are acceditated by the College of Occupational Therapists. This means your occupational therapy degree is recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy (WFOT). You are eligible to apply to practice in the other WFOT affiliated countries.
Once the study is over you will have a different set of priorities in your first two years as a newly qualified OT plus numerous professional opportunities in which to get involved
The guidance and suggestions on this page will help you make the transition from student to professional in the two years following on from graduation. Some of this is general advice which relates to all graduates but only members of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) get access to the full range of opportunities explored below.
