Our membership and objectives are in keeping with those of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health.
Membership
- All members of the Scottish sub-group must be members of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health.
- All members of the sub-group must have a Scottish clinical base and work from Scottish legislation.
- The elected chairperson, secretary and treasurer must reside and work within Scotland.
- The chairperson will be a full executive member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health attending a minimum of two full committee meetings per year.
- Membership will be in the

- Full BAOT members
- Non BAOT members
- Support workers and technicians
- Students
Objectives
- To establish and develop the Scottish Sub-group of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health by meeting bi-monthly and promoting sub-group objectives.
- To remain as an integral part of the the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health and feed current information and aims of the sub-group into the executive committee.
- To respond to consultation at the request of or on behalf of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section – Mental Health.
- To approach issues relating to Occupational Therapy practice from a Scottish perspective taking into account the influence of Scottish legislation.
- To promote awareness of the Scottish sub-group, its objectives and benefits, to encourage membership.
- To foster and promote Occupational therapy within the area of mental health while encompassing differing fields of clinical specialism and sites of practice.
- To offer support and encouragement to Occupational therapists working in different fields where clients may experience mental health problems.
- To promote the communication and sharing of good practice.
- To promote conferences and opportunities for specialist education.
- To encourage research activity and promote publications fostering good practice.
