What is good about your occupational therapy course?
QuickTime
"I found out about occupational therapy because I was a special needs officer at university and also I worked in the student union and I was involved in quite big projects. Whilst I was there we got an exterior glass corridor put onto the listed building taking wheelchair users from one side of the building to the university bar. Which is a very important part of student life. I found out about occupational therapy when all the other students were going to graduate training just before my finals and the university special needs officer said to me 'What you have been doing is occupational therapy.' So I had that in my mind when I left university. So then I went to phone around the colleges and this college said that although they were taking graduates, the graduates would have more chance on getting on the course if they had in occupational therapy and that most people were occupational therapy assistants for a year before applying. Then I got a job by sending my CV out to all these hospitals and I worked at Queens Square as an occupational therapy assistant for a year."
Interviewer "Oh right, and how since getting onto the course, how was that from moving from being an assistant with that experience to being a student now?"
Its a really good challenge to move on from being an OT assistant to actually going to the course and being a student."
