Reviewing your Children's Service

Monday 16th June 2008

Venue: College of Occupational Therapists

Cost: £97.00 (BAOT members) £117.00 (non-members)

Location: London

Description:

This event is for Children’s OT Service Managers / Senior Clinicians.

Services need to deliver cost effective, efficient, quality services, but children’s services often seem to suffer from demand outstripping capacity! - Resulting in lengthy weighting lists, large caseloads and demoralised staff. A review to address this can result in a more efficient cost effective service and one without a waiting list!

Carrying out a review is an important skill and reviews can significantly influence the future of services. This event will enable delegates to understand the review process, the range of tools available and relate this to a children’s service setting.

Format: predominantly participative sessions, some presentations.

Venue: College of Occupational Therapists

Cost: £98.00 (BAOT members) £118.00 (non-members)

Are you aware of the implications of writing contributions for educational statements and evidence for tribunals?

This event is aimed at occupational therapists working with children who contribute to children’s Special Educational Needs Statutory Assessments and Tribunals in all settings; health and social care settings, private practice and education.

It will provide factual information on the legal framework to enable occupational therapists to understand the process. The day will also review the impact of writing such reports and explore the practical and ethical dilemmas occupational therapists face.

The day will be led by Nick Armstong, a barrister with a wealth of experience in Education Law and Tribunals, with perspectives from SENDIST (The Special Educational Needs Tribunal), IPSEA (Independent Panel for Special Education Advice) and a Tribunal Panel Member. Audience participation and the sharing of experiences will be an integral part of the day.
