This workshop considers the challenges facing a multidisciplinary team when utilising specialised support surfaces, regardless of any stage of a patient’s treatment. This is a reflective session that will build on the clinician’s existing knowledge about the maintenance of skin integrity.

Learning outcomes

• Develop an understanding of the effects of ageing on the skin
• Discuss the rationale behind 30-degree tilts and the repositioning of a patient
• Hear about the challenges and limitations of managing a patient on a specialised support surface
• Discover the solutions to optimise the functional ability of a patient
