Have you ever wondered what components make up a pressure management chair? In this hands-on session, Grahame Jones, CareFlex’s Technical Manager, discusses the materials that are used in specialist seating and the effect these can have. Examples will include types of foam for pressure relief and fabrics for wear, comfort, etc.

Learning outcomes

• Develop an understanding of different materials used for pressure relief and how their properties interact
• Learn to recognise the different mechanical elements of seating to help match the right chair to the client’s need
• Gain a practical understanding of chair mechanisms to help with servicing and maintenance
