CPD Tools are of a variety of types and are designed for the purposes of facilitating your continuing professional development along the lifelong learning journey. Your CPD portfolio is a tool that should summarise this journey. It should reflect evidence of learning in the areas of skills, knowledge, attitudes, understanding and achievements.
CPD portfolios should be for personal use only, '…as a database to collect and collate evidence of both professional and personal development' (Lillyman and Evans 1996). The portfolio is yours to control; you decide what should go in it and how the information is formatted (Lillyman and Evans 1996).
