The Challenge
An increase in the cost of major adaptations since COVID-19 means that the discretionary disabled facility grant for citizens with a palliative condition is no longer able to cover the range of works previously carried out.
The Change
Concerns raised with management regarding delays in completing urgent adaptations. Agreed a change in process. An MDT meeting is arranged to look at whether further alterations can be considered to reduce costs or whether additional funding is needed
The Impact
Citizens will no longer have to go through a financial means test. This will reduce additional stress to the citizen and family. Remove further delays and disruption and provide quicker access to essential facilities which will impact their wellbeing
