The Challenge
Harry was a young man with autism and depression. He struggled with variation in his mood; some days able to manage life well, other days being unable to even get out of bed, feeling without hope or a future.
The Change
Harry was introduced to the idea of a sensory ladder, in order to explore his senses, mood and choices. This tool enabled him to label and described his moods, understand his behaviour and think what to do when his mood starts to dip.
The Impact
Harry's mood became more stable. He recognised how valuable it was to regularly spend time with his dogs, go for walks and keep on doing the things he loves. He used sensory strategies to help his mood. He applied to college and for a part time job.
