The Challenge
Working in a care home where the residents have had to socially isolate and were not allowing family in to visit, their mental and emotional well being had been impacted greatly.
The residents were becoming more sedentary and remaining in their rooms
The Change
My assistant and myself set up an activities group to engage the residents in meaningful leisure activities. We have baked cakes that they used to make when they were younger, made door wreaths, held a beach party, celebrated VE day etc.
The Impact
The residents have all responded positively and felt they had something to look forward to. We sent pictures to their families who were thrilled to see their relatives enjoying themselves.
