Senior Occupational Therapist
The Challenge
Alex is a 22 y.o. man with ASD and Dyspraxia. He was unable to continue his work due to COVID-19 lockdown, which caused him increased levels of anxiety and anger. He was avoiding to do anything else apart from staying in his room playing video games
The Change
Alex's mother asked for support from OT who managed to work with Alex via teletherapy sessions twice per week throughout the lockdown period and helped Alex addressing his anxiety and anger issues and decrease screen time.
The Impact
Participation in activities that required Alex's physical and sensory engagement helped with increase the dopamine levels, resulting in significant mood and social interaction improvements and prepared him for returning back to his work
