The Challenge
During covid19 many of our mental health inpatients had to isolate on admission, others had been informed to shield due to physical health conditions. This led to lack of motivation, creativity, structure and reduced opportunity to engage with others
The Change
As a team we created isolation packs including various resources, such as puzzles, keeping active sheets, colouring and even plants. We also had a fabulous donation of Lego and we used this resource to make isolation Lego packs for patients.
The Impact
The packs were well received, particularly the Lego and plants. One individual commented the plant had provided him with a role and a reason to get out of bed each day. The Lego provided a creative outlet which increased motivation and self worth
