The Challenge
Neuropsychiatric inpatient unit during time of Corona Virus pandemic, indiviudals unable to have visitors, attend community visits or participate in pre-brain injury activities away from the ward environment as part of their ongoing rehabilitation.
The Change
Themed weeks based on different countries (encouraging staff and patients to share recipes, language skills, knowledge of different cultures as well as use technology to complete virtual tours) with the aim promoting personal identity and normality.
The Impact
Postive shared experience between MDT and individuals
Increased peer support between patients (own identity)
Inclusive ward environment, sense of community and ownership
Joint MDT approach across professions
Participation in structured daily routine
