The Challenge
The client wanted to be able to feel confident when using her new electric wheelchair in community so she could get on a bus and visit her family.
The Change
OT put a rehab programme in place to work on her wheelchair skills and confidence. OT contacted First Bus Company who arranged for a dedicated (empty) bus to drive to the bus stop which she would use, allowing her to practice getting on/off the bus.
The Impact
The client reported that she had her life back. She was able to feel confident using her wheelchair outside in the community. She gained confidence in time for her to go on a surprise 50th birthday treat, which was attending a theatre show.
