The Challenge
Son wanted to be able to safely move and reposition the service user in bed. He really struggled with sliding the service user up the bed, due to having severe back issues The son felt it was his duty to care for his father, and not rely on carers.
The Change
Introduction of the sliding sheet system, top sheet being the one with loops and a gantry hoist. I completed a joint visit with an equipment company representative to demonstrate how to use the equipment safely.
The Impact
Care calls were safely reduced down to single handed care x2 a week. The equipment allowed the son to safely move and reposition his father, without hurting his back. Son was happy he could fulfil his duty towards his father.
