Specialist adult clinic for MDT annual review; limited appointment time; Clinic tended to be ‘medical model’ led by therapists vs patient led & consultation often felt pressurised by time constraints
The Change
Review of clinic; focus group; development of pre - clinic questionnaire; patient/careers now given reasoning & invited to complete this pre-appointment, together with photos of functional seating positions& any ergonomic concerns.
The Impact
Appointment Patient/Carer lead; more time efficient; intervention targeted to needs; photos have broadened the scope of the assessment; Recommendation based outcomes with clear, personal & specific goals. Audited; positive feedback.
