The Challenge
Acute inpatients and their families were unable to engage in their usual Remembrance Day memorials due to being in hospital. This resulted in low mood, feelings of isolation and a loss of connection to their communities.
The Change
We brought craft materials to these patients and assisted them in making their own poppies to either keep and wear, or to hang up in the hospital chapel.
The Impact
These patients enjoyed a multi sensory intervention which resulted in producing something of great significance to them. They reported that they felt grateful and relieved to be able to participate in Remembrance activities.
