The Challenge
Sue was referred due to low motivation, lack of routine and not leaving the house. She described a constant fear of becoming unwell again following hospital admissions due to psychosis during menopause. What she really wanted? To be able to shower.
The Change
I worked with Sue to identify barriers to showering. We talked through options; was it lack of motivation, low mood, functional ability or that she only had a bath? A quick referral was made to the council for a shower over the bath to be installed.
The Impact
I next saw Sue smiling, saying she'd been able to shower and wash her hair. She recognised the impact being able to shower without worrying about getting stuck in the bath has on her mental health. Now we can start structure and routine building work
