The Challenge
Ensuring that children’s housing needs were assessed appropriately so that children where there were high risks were banded higher. OTs often had to do a lot of additional liaison / letters to get the risks reflected in the banding.
The Change
We arranged for a member of the housing team to come to a OT team meeting and discussed the issue. Following this we made some small changes to the OT rehousing report including adding a risk assessment.
The Impact
OTs noticed an improvement in the bandings that came back and rarely need to send additional information - saved time. OTs clearly able to highlight levels of risk and able to support parents in understanding the assessment and expected outcome.
