The Challenge
A patient arrived on the ward and had been living with Parkinsons for years. Oftentimes his would stiffen up and struggle to stand. Affecting transfers and ability to mobilise. Family had until this point been lifting him manually.
The Change
I assessed him with, and provided a rotunda. Demonstrated its use to the family, who had never seen one before.
The Impact
He can use it to transfer or stand to his walking frame using the rotunda to facilitate this. The strain is removed from family/carers. He can also use it to stand to the sink to do his morning grooming routine, which is very important to him.
