The Challenge
We met Gladys at her local GP Health Centre at the launch of our OT Social Care & NHS collaboration event during OT week. She was recovering from a cataract operation, had never heard of OT & was feeling unsteady negotiating her stairs with no rails.
The Change
Gladys believed she was a burden & that her worries were not important enough to bother anyone about, we managed to assess her at the event. Gladys was starting to feel less confident with activities of daily living and was at risk of a fall.
The Impact
We made Gladys realise how OT & therapeutic interventions could help increase her confidence in her own capabilities by making small adjustments to remain safer at home by recommending some extra grab rails and changing her mindset of Social Care.
