The Challenge
Person referred to the older adult mental health service. Patient's partner had difficulty showering the patient due to her cognitive impairment, breathlessness and reduced mobility. The couple did not wish a formal carer to assist with this task.
The Change
Occupational therapist, following assessment, provided a shower chair and wall mounted rail to assist partner to wash patient.
The Impact
Partner now able to shower patient with ease. These two small adaptive aids allowed this lady to have privacy, as she so desired.
