The Challenge
I worked in a mental health inpatient setting for people with learning disabilities. Patients sometimes found it difficult to engage with and have ownership of setting occupational goals
The Change
Myself and a colleague developed an adapted goal setting form that used visuals and straight forward language to enable service users to use the forms, set realistic goals and record progress towards them.
The Impact
Service users reported more on how they found engaging with occupatioal therapy sessions and were able to identify and formulate goals more independently than before.
