The Challenge
We had feedback from some service providers that they would like to be more confident carrying out reminiscence work with adults with learning disabilities and a diagnosis of dementia.
The Change
We reviewed the model of our provision around reminiscence work. We now offer a blend of theory alongside the opportunity to practice their skills. We grade our input to enable an uptake in facilitation skills.
The Impact
Service providers have reported that they have felt supported through the process and that they have increased confidence in their facilitation skills. They report using reminiscence work more frequently.
