The Challenge
Working with an adolescent who had been admitted to hospital and was unable to wear clothing other than a thin nightdress due to their sensory preferences. They had become increasingly socially isolated and their mental health significantly impacted
The Change
Exploring and introducing different types of clothing in a graded approach. The young person, created a scale of their priorities for clothing to test out and to wear for increasing periods of time.
The Impact
The young person was able to wear clothing which allowed them to participate in activities and socialise with peers. Their mental health improved and alongside this they became more active in setting and achieving goals, including home and school
