Shona McInnes
Band 6 Occupational Therapist
The Challenge
Claude had a long history of anxiety and depression and had tried a number of pharmacological interventions in the past with little success. Claude felt pessimistic and doubted that he would find satisfaction or purpose to his life.
The Change
Claude therefore worked with the therapist on a behavioural activation intervention, with individualised sessions to meet his needs. Claude started using daily planners, ensuring that he upped his level of activity and monitored his moods.
The Impact
Claude was referred to Individual Placement and Support Service (IPS) in order to be supported in exploring suitable employment opportunities and interviews. Claude’s self esteem, confidence and his overall mental health has improved as a result.
