The Challenge
Mr X had been in hospital for nearly 2 months following an acute episode of sepsis in his right knee. After numerous weeks of inactivity Mr X’s confidence in performing occupations was extremely low and he was experiencing anxiety and low mood.
The Change
Setting manageable goals for Mr X to achieve, such as shaving at sink rather than being dependent on staff to bring him basins of water. As mobility increased Mr X was encouraged to leave the ward setting and visit the café on the ground floor of hos
The Impact
Mr X’s confidence gradually improved with him no longer relying on ward staff for help with ADL’s and independently going to the hospital shop to buy his daily newspaper.
