The Challenge
I work with an individual who was newly admitted into the ward. During the completion of the OSA he rated himself as having difficulty engaging in self care.
The Change
I explored this with ward staff and it was felt that a visual prompt sheet was needed. This would help to support the client to engage in showering to enable him to be as independent as possible. This would also help with structuring his routine.
The Impact
He was able to refer to the visual routine prompt sheet and the staff team were also able to support and encourage him to use this daily. The client no longer uses the prompt sheet and his self care has improved!
