The Challenge
During placement in a mental health residential home, one resident lacked motivation to engage in activities and often went back to bed in the afternoons.
The Change
After chatting with him I found out that he used to enjoy and be good at origami so I provided him with some paper and with some encouragement, he agreed to show me what he used to make.
The Impact
He then engaged in the occupation for an hour and a half, making different things and commented at the end how much he enjoyed it. This occupation was meaningful and purposeful to him because it was doing something that he used to enjoy doing.
