Introduced discussion on mood changes post elective orthopaedic surgery during the PreOp Education class run by Occupational Therapists and assistants. Highlighted mood changes, symptoms and coping strategies and the need for emotional support.
The Impact
Patients reported awareness of post op mood changes enabled preparation and increased satisfaction with the recovery period. Reported refreshing to discuss mental health in physical dept. Advancing Quality Alliance keen to introduce as best pratice.
