The Challenge
Social care community occupational therapy - how to provide a standardised, personalised and valid assessment for those with cognitive impairments who have a physical need for a stair lift installation but may be declined one due to perceived risk.
The Change
Joint working with our NHS OT colleagues in mental health and stroke rehabilitation in their use of standardised cognitive screening tools. Sharing skills and experience and developing a cognitive workshop for all social care occupational therapists.
The Impact
Fife social care OT's have been trained and are now using standardised cognitive screening tools to enhance their assessments. More people with cognitive impairments are benefitting from stair lift provision to maintain living in their home safely.
