The Challenge
To get a gentleman discharged from hospital. He lived with his brother in law who declined him to have a bed downstairs in the property. The patient due to his medical conditions was unable to negotiate the stairs.
The Change
I referred for a stairlift to be fitted. I obtained a quote through a stairlift company, completed the necessary paperwork as well as getting the patient to fill in the forms he needed and sent this through to Social Services.
The Impact
The patient was able to be discharged from hospital and access the upstairs of the property which therefore meant he did not need to be re-housed. The patient was happy as not only would the stairlift help him, it would help his brother in law too.
