The Challenge
A woman with learning disabilities & mental health issues was struggling to eat a meal due to a tremor. She would often spill food onto the table, floor & on her clothes. She felt self conscious eating in public when accessing her local community.
The Change
I assessed the person eating a meal at home and identified that weighted cutlery, a plate guard and non slip mat would help.
The Impact
The care home purchased the equipment. The person was able to eat her meal independently with minimal spillage. This equipment restored her dignity during mealtimes.
