The Challenge
We had lots of non-NHS equipment being brought into the hospital which individuals had privately purchased and no longer needed. This equipment could not be collected by our contracted equipment provider and unfortunately was being taken to the tip.
The Change
We needed to find a permanent, reliable and more environmentally friendly method of relocating this equipment. Our Occupational Therapy technician Laurent contacted local charitable organisations who may be able to re-use these items.
The Impact
It was agreed the British Red Cross would start a regular collection of unwanted items, to recondition and re-use. The global effect of recycling cannot be underestimated. Thanks to Laurent's initiative, we've found a greener way to deal with this.
