The Challenge
Working with a new mum who had moved to a new area. She was experiencing anxiety and had become socially isolated. She was experiencing low mood and concern expressed over mental health.
The Change
Time spent learning new strategies to manage anxiety. Discussing the occupational role and demands on being a new parent. Occupational interventions focusing on enabling spending time away from home and engaging in community parenting group.
The Impact
Mum was able to develop new ways of coping with anxiety. Was able to normalise the stress of being a new parent. Mum was able to join groups (initially with support) & make friends with other new parents. No longer needing services. Happy mum & baby.
