The Challenge
Patients often present with cognitive impairment on a neuro-rehabilitation unit and it was found that these patients were not challenged enough from a high level executive function perspective within a hospital environment.
The Change
Occupational Therapists worked alongside speech and language therapists to set up a project group which involves a group of patients coming together with support from the OT and SLT to think up and carry out a project of their choice within a 5 week
The Impact
Projects groups to date have been successful in completing a charity bake sale and raffle as well as conducting a film premier. All of which have involved taking votes, designing posters, writing letters to external organisations, community visits.
