We’re running our third Children and Young People's Occupational Therapy (CYP OT) survey looking into children’s access to occupational therapy across the UK. The survey is open until 9am, Monday 31 July 2023.
This survey is now closed.
What do I need to do?
If you’re a children’s occupational therapist in the UK, whatever setting or level you’re working at, we want to hear from you.
Complete the survey – it only takes 20 minutes, and you can access it now (this survey is now closed).
If you're not a children’s OT, please forward this on to your relevant colleagues!
What is the CYP survey?
The CYP OT survey is for all children’s occupational therapists in the four nations to tell us about children’s and young people's access to occupational therapy. It explores any new trends or concerns.
In our previous surveys, we reviewed the impact of COVID-19. In our third survey you are invited to put across your views on the social impacts on your sector and delivery, including (but not limited to):
- the cost of living crisis
- changes to school budgets
- cuts to social care.
We use all our survey findings to guide our work and to discuss actions with policymakers and service commissioners.
Why should I complete the CYP OT survey?
Our survey brings together and represents the views of OTs, like you, from across our profession and the UK. We need your specialism represented so our recommendations to government can best support your views. In our 2022 survey we received responses from:
- NHS workers
- community teams
- social care
- independent practice
- child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS)
- acute services
- schools
- charities and third sector.
In last year’s survey, 85% of respondents said the demand for occupational therapy has increased since July 2021 with 65% saying children and young people were presenting with more complex physical, mental health and learning needs.
This kind of insight led to five key recommendations we have pursued over the last year. You can download and review the survey report from 2022 at your leisure.
How do I complete the survey?
- Set aside roughly 20 minutes to complete the survey.
- Complete it online via our survey portal.
- Don’t include any comments in your responses that could identify you.
- Submit your answers before 9am, Monday 31 July 2023.
- Share the survey with all your colleagues.
When you’re ready, grab a cup of tea, and complete the survey (this survey is now closed).
Thank you for your support.
