Combating disability discrimination

In July, Laraine Epstein, member of the COT's forum for OTs with disabilities, attended the disability discrimination summer school in Galway, Ireland. This two-week school was the first of its type in Europe to focus on anti-discrimination legal issues on the grounds of disability.

Extra access puts everyone in credit

Article published in the Daily Telegraph on the 7th May 2005 has inspired Laraine Epstein of the Public Forum for OT's with a disability to encourage everyone with a disability thinking of studying at university to give it a go.' She says "The message displayed in this article is that students with disabilities can attend university, they can achieve their true potential and be independent! Go for it".

First Anniversary for Pioneering Internet Forum

It has been a successful first year for a pioneering Internet discussion forum which helps people with disabilities and educators access information on occupational therapy as a career.

Delivering equality for disabled people: Online consultation forum

The Department for Work and Pensions have launched a new online consultation forum on 'Delivering equality for disabled people'. This is an opportunity for everyone to make points about some of the issues raised in the consultation document, and to discuss your views along with other contributors.

Open 4 All

Open 4 All is a campaign from the Disability Rights Commission to improve access for disabled people. From 1st October 2004, public service providers will be required to make 'reasonable adjustments' to their premises and services in order to provide disabled access. The Open 4 All website contains information for both service providers and disabled people.

The Journey of a Visually Impaired Student becoming an Occupational Therapist
