These pages have been designed to be accessible to all users.
Accessibility means building a website that can be used by as many different people as possible, including those with disabilities, and takes all their needs into account.
Our aim is to make the site compliant with both Web Accessibility Initiative guidelines and the RNIB's See It Right scheme.
You can make the font size on these pages larger or smaller to suit your needs. In Internet Explorer, you can do this by going to the View menu and changing the Text Size.
If you are having trouble viewing the web site, you may need to upgrade your browser (web surfing software) to the latest version.
- Download the latest version of Internet Explorer (free)
- Download the latest version of Moizilla Firefox (free)
- Download the latest version of Opera (free)
- Download the latest version of Safari (free)
If you are unsure how to install software on your computer or if you are not permitted to do so, please speak to your IT department / tech support.
Alternative styles
You may choose to view the site using one of our alternative styles. You will need to have JavaScript and cookies enabled in your browser for the changes to take effect.
If you use Internet Explorer to browse the internet, please use the links below.
If you are using Opera, Netscape or Mozilla, please use these links. In Mozilla, you can also choose a style by selecting 'Use Style' in the View menu.
JavaScript
JavaScript is a programming language used on many web pages. Most modern browsers are able to run JavaScript, but some, such as speech browsers for the visually impaired, cannot.
Some people choose to turn JavaScript off to make web pages load faster or to prevent popup windows from opening. If you are using a browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera or Mozilla, and you have not deliberately turned JavaScript off, you should be able to run web pages which use JavaScript without having to do anything.
Cookies
Cookies are used to store information about your preferences on a website, so that when you return to the site, even after some time, it will 'remember' you. On the COT site, cookies are used to save your job search preferences and membership details as well as to display the alternate styles you can choose on this page.
Because some people do not like to have information about themselves held on the web, it is possible to set your browser up so it will not allow cookies.
Depending on your security settings, your browser might be set up to allow all cookies, allow no cookies, or only allow cookies from websites you have approved. If you want to have cookies turned off but still use the COT site, you will need to change your security settings.
In Internet Explorer, you can do this by going to the Tools menu and choosing Internet Options. In the popup box, go to 'Privacy'. If your security setting is 'Medium' or higher, you will need to click the 'Edit' button and add 'cot.org.uk' to the list of Managed Web sites by entering it in the Address box and clicking 'Allow'.
