Description:
This workshop is for occupational therapists working in neonatal care at an enhanced level of practice. Before attending you should have completed the foundation level neonatal elearning programme, including the accompanying workbook New elearning about occupational therapy in neonatal care - RCOT. It would also be helpful if you have completed the FINE Level 1 training (family centred developmental care: FINE 1 Course | Infant and Family Centred Developmental Care (finetraininguk.com). The workshop will be facilitated by clinical experts and will include a combination of theory, discussions, case studies and practical activities.
Learning objectives:
- Understand the impact of personal and environmental factors, including pain/stress on the occupational performance of infants and parents/carers in neonatal settings, and be able to apply this to practice.
- Develop skills and confidence to enable infant and parent/carer participation in occupations such as feeding, changing, sleeping and coping with procedures.
- To confidently articulate the role and value of occupational therapy in neonatal care to parents/carers, members of the MDT and others.
