Are you working within the law on copyright?

With so much material now freely available online it’s easy to become confused about what you can and can’t copy or reproduce. Ensure that you are aware of the current law and good practice relating to the use of third party materials in your presentations, essays, articles and other published works by reading the updated College of Occupational Therapists Briefing 101 on Copyright law.

The briefing now includes:

  • a definition of copyright
  • updated guidance on when permission is needed
  • improved instructions for clearing permissions
  • additional information on internet material and photocopying rights and restrictions.

Taking some time to improve your knowledge in this area could help you avoid time-consuming and potentially costly mistakes in the future.

Remember that while we encourage you to use our online resources for your personal use, the College logo and web materials are protected by copyright. Please take a moment to read our terms and conditions.
