Mental Health Occupational Therapy magazine is the official publication of the COT Specialist Section – Mental Health
It is issued three times a year (March, July and November). It is distributed to the membership of the Specialist Section as part of their membership benefits, and also by subscription to various libraries around the world. It is listed by the CINAHL database.
Research and practice reports are single blind peer reviewed. Other articles include news, opinion, letters, book reviews, and information of forthcoming events. The editor invites article submissions relevant to mental health occupational therapy.
The Editorial Board meets three times a year and membership of this is by invitation and the work done is on a voluntary basis.
Editorial Board members must be members of the COT Specialist Section – Mental Health.
The aims of the magazine are to:
· Communicate and share information on occupational therapy in mental health and on wider mental health issues relevant to occupational therapists
· Disseminate mental health occupational therapy research
· Highlight relevant areas of theory, practice, education and management in mental health occupational therapy
· Encourage dialogue relating to mental health policy and legislation
· Facilitate communication and debate amongst those interested and involved in mental health occupational therapy service provision
· Encourage occupational therapists to share good and effective practice
· Promote continuing professional development
· Act as a resource to assist with the practice of mental health occupational therapy
· Provide information on current events/courses/conferences around mental health
· Seek contributions from other contributors (e.g. service users, other health professionals, the wider community) to inform occupational therapy mental health practice
Libraries are welcome to subscribe to Mental Health Occupational Therapy at £77.00 per year.
Back copies of whole issues of the magazine are available at £5.00 per copy (discount for multiple copies is given). Single articles from back copies are available from the COT library or any academic library.
If you join the COT Specialist Section – Mental Health midway through the membership year you should receive copies of the magazines that have already been issued that membership year( 1 October to 30 September).
Magazine advertising is available for mental health related training events and resources, such as assessment tools.
The magazine however is unable to advertise job vacancies. Current prices for an advertisement within the magazine are:
