Everyone in the UK, regardless of whether they pay for themselves or are supported by the state, has the right to information, advice and assistance to help them select the most appropriate equipment
Equipment services are changing. More equipment is being made available through high street retailers and statutory provision is moving to meet the changing needs of the population.
Equipment services in Wales
Integrated Community Equipment Services are being set up. An all Wales procurement process is in development, which means that product evaluation and a tendering process are in hand.
Equipment services in England
The Transforming Community Equipment Services (TCES) programme continues. This process, also known as the ‘retail model’, uses prescriptions that are exchanged at accredited specialist or high street retailers for equipment. A purchasing strategy for children’s equipment is being put together by the TCES team.
Telecare and telehealth services
Telecare and telehealth services continue to move forward across the UK. The College regularly meets with the Department of Health’s Telecare Advisory Network.
